And Finally…Blissdom Post #3: I’m Just Wild About Harry

by Mary Anne on February 9, 2010

Oh you know who I’m talking about.   It’s not Harry Potter.   It’s not Prince Harry.  He’s way more handsome than both of those two…I’m talking about the one and only, the man with the MOST southern charm, Harry Connick, Jr.

I think I’m in love.

So you know he played for us at Blissdom, right?   Because Blissdom is the most awesome of conferences ever…that’s why.  (Sorry, had to throw in that little shout out…)

I was this close:

…and I was this close:

…and I was thisssss close:

My roomie Domestic Chicky took these amazing shots with her camera because we were standing backstage as “crowd control” for the photo session and I was right next to her the entire time.

It’s okay, go ahead and laugh at my ability to control any crowd, let alone a group of amped up women after a private concert, because by doing so, I got to do this:

OMG!  He touched my shoulder!!!!    I think I blurted something out about how “When Harry Met Sally” changed my life, which….while regretable and showing my more shallow side, is slightly true because I fell in love with his music.

Yeah, I’m an idiot.   But guess what?   He didn’t EVEN  laugh at me.   He’s just that nice.

And then I fainted and died a little bit.

The End.

Thank you Alli, Barbara and Paula for a weekend I will never forget!

You were so totally uncool but I still love you. Though I will have to train you on star encounter etiquette.

Just caught up on all the Blissdom posts. How fun! And how much better than the snowstorms we’ve had for the past week…

Maybe next year. But BlogHer is drivable for me this year – so I’ll be there expecting my hug (if you’re there that is…)

Aw! And I’ll bet he’s saying all the same things about you! Thanks for sharing your close encounter.

Yay for you TSM! I bet he’s snagged a copy of that last photo as a keepsake of when he met the one and only Stiletto Mom. ;)

My mom and I are sitting here jealous and happy for you… you got a pic with the one and only Harry! Adore him and his music. You lucky lady! :)

Hey, no fair! I would have *totally* worked a shift as a bouncer for a chance to get a picture with Harry!

I guess I can console myself with the fact that when I stood next to him (for my lowly group picture) he gave me a squeeze. OH YES HE DID.

Hey Lady!

You rocked the Wizzard of Ads Session. Can’t find the slides on Blissdom (thinking Alli, Barbara & Paula are rightfully chillin’ post con).

Can you mail them to me or post them?

Thx!
Lee

P.S., I’m REALLY glad my brand is closer to Dansko clogs that Stilletos. I wouldn’t have survived the first day! :)

16 The Lawyer Mom February 11, 2010 at 4:02 pm

I’m a Dansko girl too. Probably would have stepped on his toes and crushed them.

Cute pic! Did you get his autograph?

No hating now, but I wasn’t that excited about Harry coming to croon for us at Blissdom. I was wishing for Justin Timberlake instead.

Then, he had me at hello* and totally charmed me with his pro-strong women message. Handsome, humble, married with daughters he obviously adores, charitable, a get ‘er done kind of guy besides the whole musical and acting talent tidbit.

Not to mention dancing (to the DJ playing Justin Timberlake) with his band members after the show was tremendous fun.

*I totally confess to the mini plagiarism of the Jerry McGuire line.

I’m pretty sure you’ve convinced me to go next year.

Ok, so color me embarrassed. I think I confused you with someone else at Blissdom on Friday.

I said, “Ohmygosh, look I’m wearing my boots, leggins and long sweater!”

And you were so kind, you were, all, that’s nice…

But, the person I thought you were was another blogger that references heels in her blog name. And we totally talked about wearing the outfit I wore.

But… she wasn’t there. She had to sell her ticket.

LOL I hope you remember me, otherwise this comment is kind of crazy and random!
