When Harry Met Sally is one of my very favorite movies of all time. I’ve seen it about a million times and am totally in love with it for a few reasons:
- I. Am. Sally. Everything on the side? Check. Obsessive compulsive with a hint of endearing? Check. Embarssing significant other in public places? Check, check and check.
- One of the main songs, “It Had To Be You” was one of my parents favorite songs. I have so many memories of growing up watching the two of them dancing to that song in our living room…I always wanted to be fancy like that. Sadly I ended up with two left feet and a husband that rocks the “white mans overbite” on the dance floor. Fred and Ginger, we are not.
- I kind of gave up on the classics I grew up with after realizing I’d never grace a dance floor and started listening to to things like “Ice, Ice, Baby” (don’t judge) which provided me the opportunity to move about in a more random fashion and call it dancing. That is, until “When Harry Met Sally” came out and I fell head over heels in love with the soundtrack and more importantly the voice behind it all, Harry Connick, Jr.
Saying I’m in love with Harry might be the understatement of the century.
I mean, look at that face…
…those blue eyes, that voice….that Cajun accent…add the fact that he can tickle the ivories and um, well….oh my…
Harry is a guy I’ve always wanted to meet. I’m not sure how I’d react to be honest…given my past record of stalking and totally inappropriate behavior around any type of celebrities, let alone one I’ve been in love with for-evah.
I guess I’m about to find out though…here’s the scoop, and it’s been very hard for me to keep this quiet for the month or so I’ve known…
Harry Connick, Jr. is making an appearance at Blissdom this year!
::Pausing for a moment while you faint…::
It’s okay, I’ve been a little weak in the knees since I heard! Can you believe it?!?
There’s still time for you to join us (me and Harry that is…wink, wink!). Go here to buy your tickets. Not only will you get the chance to be part of a very small audience of women listening to an unbelievable, once in a lifetime private concert, you will get the chance to spend the weekend with a bunch of really amazing women and learn some great stuff.
Hey, they are even letting me host a panel. I KNOW. Try to contain yourselves, or at least resolve not to heckle, okay?
In the meantime, I’m leaving you with this little clip of Harry….because he and I are totally going to be on a first name basis after this, right? Hope to see you there!
..and yes, I totally plan on leaning over the piano while he sings….one of you will bail me out of jail for stalking right???

HA! The sheer noise factor is going to be unreal
Isn’t this the COOLEST!
mmmm. saw him years ago @ (what was then) Starplex Ampitheatre. From the front row. 3 seats from Jill Goodacre and her gaggle of Victoria’s Secret model-friends.
And When Harry Met Sally is also my fave movie of all time. Drool extra for me, friend.
Um, I’d like to say how happy I am but to be honest, and you do want me to be honest, don’t you, he doesn’t really float my boat…
How awesome for you to get to hear him live! I’d love to grab tickets, but it’s just to far for me, so enjoy it for yourself and for those of us who can’t make it!
Sure you aren’t more of a Chris Isaak kinda gal, you know ‘Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing’ type stuff? No? Well Harry is a nice young man, I’m sure
I hope you have a wonderful time!!!! Call if you need someone to bail you out

*breaks down into hysterical sobs of envy, for so many reasons*
YOu know that person knocking you OUT OF THE WAY to meet him? Yeah. That will be me.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Girlfriend, you’ll totally knock Harry’s socks off as long as you don’t wear a lampshade. Proud of you! When you get back, I’m expecting a full blow-by-blow. Err, did that sound weird? Oh well. You know what I mean.
You SUCK!!!!!
(said with love, of course)
You KNOW I have a thing for him!
Harry Met Sally is John’s and my movie. “I could write a book” is our wedding song. “Imagination” is my all time favorite CD of all time and John is taking me to his concert on Feb 11 for Valentine’s Day.
But YOU get to MEET him?
NO FAIR!
(said with love, of course)
I can’t afford Blissdom, which is already a bummer. But I can ask VERY NICELY for you to score me an autograph? Please? For your old BlogHer roommate? I’ll be your best friend..
Yup. We expect a full report. Oh, and don’t worry about the dancing thing, The Maven is a total Elaine Benes on the dance floor.
Oh. My. God.
You will need to leave room in your suitcase for stowaways. Love him! Love him. It had to be you was the song we danced to at our wedding. Must.Meet.Harry.
So now I need to go if only to save you from doing something totally inappropriate. Truly, we should leave that to me because I’ve got years on you. HA!
You know we could get into a lot of trouble if we partied together, right?
I posted a video today too – one of my favorites of his. I’ve seen him twice before and he is YUMMY.
I can’t wait to see you again – 3 weeks! Whoot!
I’m going to try to be mature and wish you a fabulous time and all. But inside I’m with Jan…waaaaaaahhhhh!
That does it, now I’m going to have to go if for no other reason than to keep you out of jail.
I’ve had lunch a few times in Katz’s Deli in NYC (that famous faking it scene) sitting at THE table. It’s hard to miss since they have a huge sign hanging over it that says “This is where Harry met Sally”.
Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my computer…
Absolutely one of my favorite genres of music. And I LOVED HCJ when that movie came out. I actually saw him on the street once in NYC when I was at a college in the city. I would never have noticed of course because I am pathologically bad at spotting celebrities. My friend pointed him out (he was getting out of a limo with his wife Jill – in front of their apt building I guess). I can’t believe he’ll be at a blogger conference! And of course I can’t go…
Hilare! See ya there! ~Chris Ann
Two words – “Hope Floats”
That man is the walking definition of Southern charm.
Swoon.
I would fly from Raleigh to Nashvegas just to bail you out, dear.
But I don’t get to go to Blissdom…sniffle. (Saddest Panda Evah)
Oh. MY. GAWD.
I am so in love with Harry Connick, Jr!! A few years ago for my mom’s 50th birthday I bought us tickets to Portland and 4th row seats to his concert there… it was soooo amazing!
I also emailed his concert promoter and told him it was a special event for my mom and that we were from Alaska, and he sent us 2 backstage passes. Now, I’m normally a very talkative and forward gal, and I’ve met a few celebrities before… but when I met Harry, I couldn’t speak. Literally. My mom laughed at me and had to introduce me because I just sat there shaking his hand and staring at him like a creeper.
He is just as handsome in person, and he sounds BEAUTIFUL… you’re going to have so much fun!!!
