Today? Magical. Beyond exciting. Possibly more exciting than Christmas. Thrilling even. Why you ask? Because for the first time in three months, this house is quiet which can only mean one thing…we have once again successfully pawned our children off on the public school system.
We (and by we I mean me because someone’s husband had a little too much fun this weekend….) got through all the preparations on Sunday. Mr. C was subjected to a brutal two hour journey to Target to find the perfect back pack and supplies.
He liked that part.
What he didn’t like was that I got into one of those annoying moods where I wanted to read all the labels on the food when we went to go buy everything for dinner. Hey, I’ve listened to him yell at his sister all summer…I think it’s my God given right at this point to know exactly how many milligrams of sodium are in that enchilada sauce I’m pondering, right? If I had a dollar for every time I heard, “Mooooommmmmmm” yesterday? Well, I’d have about 10 bucks and we could go to Starbucks, my treat. Throw in eye rolls and we could definitely go out for steaks on the money I would have made.
Next up was the mountain of paperwork that had to be completed. Below is a picture of Miss G putting her “signature” on the Acknowledgement Form that she is aware of and plans to be in full compliance with all the rules this year.

I was particularly impressed that she agreed to the subsection “Possession of Prohibited Items” which clearly states that under no circumstances during her tenure as a second grader will she possess or use “a razor, box cutter, chain or any other object used in a way that threatens or inflicts bodily injury to another person.” I guess this means we can’t send her to school in her gang colors. Bummer.
So finally this morning after a full summer of this…

We finally got them to at least pretend they love each other…

Before we sent them on their way for another year of adventure.

Godspeed my babies, go forth and spread your mayhem elsewhere for eight hours daily.
Oh, and try to learn something while you are there, okay?

Sent two of mine off to college last Saturday, and one more to public school today. NOT a quiet day, but satisfying.
That leaves one at home, for one more year.
But mostly the mayhem part. And oh boy, does Mr. C have your eyes!
Very cute, very very cute! Congrats on the return to school. I anxiously await the day when I’ll get to send my little boy off to school, but for now the days are measured in number of poopy diapers I am able to pawn off on my husband.
Our kiddos start back on Wednesday. This has officially been the longest summer they’ve ever had. And even they are more than ready to go back . . .
those are some cuties you got there
Avery signed her prohibited items form too, but I found a pair of nunchucks stuffed in the bottom of her Hannah Montana backpack.
Huh, all my second grader had to sign was a form they filled out as a class that said they’d not touch other people, do their work as assigned, and always listen. It’s pretty much like a first job, minus the paltry paycheck! I hope they had a great first day. Shall we begin making the arrangements for our second graders to one day marry?
They look so cute! We are a week and a day from 1st grade , kind of can’t wait myself!
Too cute. The choking shot is worthy of a frame!
Such a giggle! Glad you have the house back, Did you change the locks yet?
The fighting kids picture assures me that I don’t ever want children. The second one makes my ovaries hurt. I’m conflicted.
Happy learning, kids!
love it! love the pic of miss g studiously pouring over her ‘work’ – she looks like a little business woman!
I’m sending my baby off to college this Saturday. FIVE glorious hours across the state! I’m practically doing cartwheels just thinking about it!!
Those are great pictures!
You probably didn’t even have to bribe them to take the one of them strangling each other did you?
We’ve still got two weeks left. My oldest and I will spend the time learning how to make shanks.
Enjoy the silence…..!
Well, that subsection just takes the fun right out of school. Please tell me that she can take controlled substances to second grade? No? Now, I’m just sad.
The summer just soared by. My guy goes back in a week – none of us want the summer to end!
Yes! Silence! Blessed silence!
And the house is STILL neat and tidy by 3PM!
I love school!!!
Yay!!! That will be us next week and I can’t wait. Well, I can’t wait to get the 9 yr old out of the house, not so thrilled about my baby going to preschool. But I will enjoy the silence, that is for sure!
I love the one of the two of them together. Look at those fresh faces!
And yeah, no boxcutters allowed here either. Buzzkillers.
So sweet! Love those first day of school pictures. I was lame-o this year and didn’t take any. Boo!
First day of school… the way the house become quiet always amazes me.
Hey crazy lady!! I survived the first day of school….I can’t say much for my husband though….I didn’t have my kids sign their acknowledgement forms because 1) I know the oldest boy will go completely against the rules and 2) The oldest girl is just oblivious to the fact that she can write sometimes. Honestly, why do they make a line for student’s signature on these things huh?
Oh how I have missed you!! But I am back as time permits and feel free to stop by the new digs (yeah, I started a new one – and this time my hubs actually knows about it so ixnay on the old site and FB okay?) XOXO
No boxcutters? How rude.
Love the pictures!
My kids go back a week from today. I can’t wait and I dread it all at once.
Peace reigns . . . from 8 ’til 3.
Then back to fighting for the wii.
Heck yeah, sister! I sent mine off to kindergarten last week and the preschooler I keep went today!! I feel freeeeeeeee…….
The kids are adorable, as always!
Nice. Evacuation of all short people.
Why are we homeschooling again?
Yay! Actually, I was sobbing as I watched Caroline prance happily away from us, rejoicing in her newfound independence. Also, after just two days of school we realized that our sweet baby is locked in a battle of wills with her Kindergarten teacher. This whole “school” thing has been quite the learning experience. For us, not her.
But I’m happy for you.
The first day of school is the BEST DAY EVER! Hope you enjoyed it.
All I can say is, “THE BUS PICKS THEM UP IN YOUR DRIVEWAY?!”
pffft.
The most wonderful time of the year.
I’m envious, we won’t have any peace around here until Sept 8th. And if my husband continues on his anti-travel tactic I still won’t having any peace. Blah! I need some peace.
