Um, Yeah, I’m Sorta Spoiled

by Mary Anne on April 24, 2009

I had my surgery yesterday and everything went great. Back at home now, very much drugged up and requiring massive amounts of attention and service. (Really, did anyone think it would go a different way?)

I have to say, I’m feeling pretty spoiled and I may have to do this to myself more often if I’m going to get gifts like this:

Is that not the most amazing gift basket ever? My friend Gretchen and her husband Rico went out and bought every single thing you see there separately because they knew these were all things I loved. Magazines, OPI colors, puzzles, yummy lotions and a huge Kit Kat to make sure I keep my sugar intake at healthy level. Also, I can promise you that cowbell is going to get quite the workout this weekend. More Cowbell!!!

Here’s the other really cool thing that was in the basket that is now my latest obsession:

Toeless Fuzzy Socks

I know, it makes no sense right? When I saw them I was all WTF is THAT? But let me tell you, it’s one of those things that just go together like sweet and salty, or Abbot and Costello or….um, I’m already starting to reach here. The combination of having warm feet with nice cool toes? I’m in love. With the socks and my little friend Gretch. She’s mine and you can’t have her. :)

I also got this beautiful floral arrangement from my Boss (Hi Boss!) and co-workers Jen, Julie and Christine.

Seriously, so pretty and trust me when I tell you I’m no walk in the park at work, I don’t deserve to get spoiled like that. I’ve already tried to bug them a few times since getting home only to be told to go back to bed. I think they may be enjoying this little break from me and my endless code red crisis situations at work. I can’t say I blame them. Keep sending me flowers like that and I’ll find reasons to leave you alone!

The rest of the weekend I plan on lying around, being pampered by my wonderful husband, ringing my cowbell to repay him for his kindness, sniffing my flowers and probably watching Twilight at least 29 times. I’m also going to spend a lot of time getting caught up with everyone in my little bloggy world which I’m really looking foward to. Thanks to all my sweet friends who left me a comment, tweeted, texted, emailed, facebooked, called, skyped etc…you guys are awesome!

The toeless socks are genius! How better to admire one’s pedicure?

Glad it went well, and I wish I could be there and watch Twilight with you, because I have not even seen it one time! I know, it’s a human rights situation at this point.

Keep on feeling better!

Glad your surgery went well – I had been thinking about getting an IUD after we have another baby, so I’m glad to hear about your experience beforehand. And I am SOO jealous over all the fawning folks are doing over you…enjoy every second of it!

There’s no better way to recover from surgery than watching hot vampires non-stop for at least 48 hours.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

xo

13 Kat April 24, 2009 at 12:02 pm

If this is the special treatment you get when your girly bits get worked on count me in! Take it easy and let The Man pamper you for a while.

14 Michele Renee April 24, 2009 at 12:44 pm

At first I thought your ankles look bandaged. Then I got it. I have a ton of fuzzy socks. Maybe I should cut the ends off to try it out. And more pedicured pretty toes on blogs? I just wrote about that. Wishing you a wonderful speedy recovery weekend!

Ash and I are very glad everything went smooth. Of course all the spoiling you received set a pretty high bar for me to attain when it’s Ash’s turn. She wants Jimmy Cho’s.

Enjoy your weekend and rest up!

21 Cameron April 24, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I’m not sure if you remember, ;) but you left a damn funny comment today. So all I have to say is, “Up the dosage.” jk, but that was good.

You deserve to be totally spoiled, I would soak it up all weekend!!

22 Jim Styro April 24, 2009 at 6:47 pm

Glad to hear everything going…according to plan.

I’ll arm wrestle ya for a piece of the Kit Kat. (Bet you’re not allowed to break off a piece yet – so to speak.)

23 Keely April 24, 2009 at 7:22 pm

I glanced at the pic of your toeless socks and thought, “oh CRAP she broke both her ankles too??”.

Ahem. Glad you’re being spoiled properly as you deserve.

24 Mary Anna April 24, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Glad you’re home and on the road to feeling better.

I so need those socks!!!!!

25 Casey April 24, 2009 at 7:39 pm

We all definitely need more cowbell in our lives. I saw the pic of the socks and thought you had casts on both feet and then I was confused since I thought the surgery was a little further north than that. That is all.

26 bex April 25, 2009 at 12:50 am

toeless fuzzy socks? they are kind of weird. i think one has to experience them.

27 Beth April 25, 2009 at 11:09 am

Just sit back and r-e-l-a-x! The time will fly by and you’ll be back to the grind before you know it.

28 the mayor April 25, 2009 at 7:12 pm

Those socks could be the snuggie for feet.Pressing question. Do those socks get bunched up on the bottom when you wear them around?
Hope you recover quickly. And give us all a web site to buy those socks.

29 Amo April 26, 2009 at 5:11 am

Dude. I’m am so damn jealous. (And now a little pissed off at my husband for his lack of sensitivity…)

When pushing out the first 9 POUND, 8 OUNCE boy, my husband told me to BUCK UP.

Yeah, and I still haven’t left him…

30 Out-Numbered April 26, 2009 at 5:16 am

Ooooooh. Just read this and the one before. Hope you’re feeling better. Makes me want to go out and get the vasectomy just for the presents. Great blog by the way. RELAX…

31 Michele April 26, 2009 at 11:54 am

Good drugs + good gift baskets = a very happy Stiletto Mom.

32 Elisa April 26, 2009 at 1:33 pm

I’m glad you are doing so well! You deserve some pampering, and those are some wicked gifts you got! I LOVE that gift basket!!

33 Maternal Tales April 26, 2009 at 1:40 pm

34 Meli April 26, 2009 at 6:44 pm

So glad that everything went well.

:)

35 jessica April 26, 2009 at 10:09 pm

I’m so glad you made it through okay. I have to say the up very big upside after surgery is the pampering. Oh how I love that pampering even though it was my parents who were the ones to do it.

36 The Dental Maven April 27, 2009 at 4:48 am

Glad you’re on the mend, Girl. Now be careful with that cowbell – don’t want to get yerself a case of carpal tunnel.

37 Ellie April 27, 2009 at 6:00 am

So glad it went well. Are your girlie bits feeling okay? Stay in bed — let them keep waiting on you.

38 Manic Mommy April 27, 2009 at 6:38 am

AhhH! What a great gift basket, and hey, I WANT THOSE SOCKS! They ROCK! Where did you get them!!

Hope you are on the mend! And thanks for the sweet comments you left on my blog!

BE WELL!

39 zelzee April 27, 2009 at 9:37 am

Hope you are feeling better.

Enjoy the pampering now, the real world will be here soon enough!

40 Mrs. C. April 27, 2009 at 12:04 pm

Oh-kay, being new here I will have to go back a few days and see what kind of surgery you had. From the picture I thought it was some kind of foot or ankle surgery, maybe due to a high-heeled shoe accident. Reading on I see those are fabulous fuzzy socks, not casts.

While I get up to speed, here are best wishes for feeling better soon, and may I add that your pedicure is just LOVELY!

41 foradifferentkindofgirl (fakdog) April 27, 2009 at 1:58 pm

I’m so behind on catching up and cripes, I didn’t even have surgery! I am so glad to hear things went so well, and OMG, you have truly awesome friends! Such fun stuff, and the flowers are pretty. Speaking of pretty, check out those toots! Love that color! Also, I must now go on a quest for some of those toeless socks. Those are awesome!

42 Deemarie April 28, 2009 at 4:59 am

Glad to hear everything went well. Play the sympathy card as often as you can!! ;)

43 Damon April 28, 2009 at 4:55 pm

I’m catching up here as I was out of state with a barrel of children sans my laptop. Glad to see everything went well with your surgery and you have such wonderful friends and family to spoil you when you need spoiling.

My wife is an Ob/gyn so I’ve heard frank discussion among med students, residents and her colleagues at receptions and dinner parties for years. I’ve found when the topic gets too uncomfortable for me that I just excuse myself and head outside for some fresh air. In addition, we receive complimentary ob/gyn magazines that are often so graphic that you have to put them face down on the counter. So I’m not (that) uncomfortable with the subject matter….just glad all went well for you………
