Perfect Day

by Mary Anne on November 9, 2008

My day today.

Got up to gorgeous Texas weather….blue skies, 70 degrees.

Took the kids for a walk on the nature trail around our neighborhood. After a few minutes of fighting, they were able to agree on a name for it, The Amazing Full Moon Forest. I almost burst with pride, the words “stupid” and “Jeez” were only used once or twice. And we were off…

There were trees to climb…

And sticks to find….

Oddly enough, this particular time the sticks were not used as weapons of destruction between Mr. C and Miss G…they were used to make “leaf snow”. One stick bearing child would hit the branch of a tree of his or her choice while the other one stood under it and leaves fell all around them giggling with delight.

After an hour or so, it was time to head home….

Whatever is in the Amazing Full Moon Forest needs to be bottled up and sold in the open market because I have never seen two such well behaved children. And especially not mine...

Check you Nyquil bottle, maybe the kids chugged it before you took off ;) That’s the only explanation I can think of for….good behavior.

Isn’t it a gorgeous weekend? I love it this time of year!

If you figure out how to bottle that, let me know and I’ll buy it from you. Mine are screaming and fighting in the backyard as I type.

I don’t know what 70 is, but I’m pretty sure it’s not that here. Still, it’s sunny.

I’m so jealous! Noah has been sick since Friday, so we’ve been homebodies. We did venture out for lunch yesterday – Chili’s – we were livin’ large!

The Christmas countdown is on. That means good behavior up until the 23rd.

Sometimes they surprise us don’t they.

They are only messing with your head. Next time you turn around they will be brandishing those sticks at each other.

Glad you had a nice day.

What a beautiful spot! I totally thought this post was going to be about how you spent that money, and you turn it into something thoughtful.

I love those miraculous times when there is peace amongst siblings.

Or such adorable kids in the Amazing Full Moon Forest! I think you should write a book with that title. I love it! It’s captivating!

Fresh air does wonders for rugrats doesn’t it?

My kids played nicely together ALL weekend! Could it be the leftover Halloween candy? Like a reverse hyper/bounce off the walls effect?

I lOVE days like that.
We have a fab forest near our home and the children just have the best time squelching through the mud in their wellies and pretending the sticks are lightsabers.
Funnily enough, they never squabble while we’re there either. They must pipe something in the air . . .

We had that kind of day last Monday and Tuesday. As soon as the boys got home from school, I shuttled them into the car and we found a park to explore, and we stayed long enough to watch the sun set at the ghastly early time of 5:20 p.m., but seriously, there were points when I watched them playing and enjoying themselves that I wondered if I was responsible for them.

Gotta love those days!

What a beautiful day! The sky is very gray, light gray here. It’s pretty, but it’s definitely wintery. Off to drown my sorrows with more NyQuil!

Lovely post. That’s a fantastic picture of the double-decker tree, and your kids are adorable (and well-behaved). I agree with Heather, that is a book-worthy title. May we all have a few of these days….

That is one thing I miss about growing up in small town New England. Walking in the woods on a fall, crisp day. Ahhh…the good, younger days.

Awesome blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple adjustements would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your theme. With thanks

Thank you for your time and efforts to have put these things together on this blog. John and i also very much liked your ideas through your own reports with specific things. I know that you have a number of demands on your own program hence the fact that a person like you took just as much time just like you did to steer users really like us by means of this posting is even greatly valued.

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. But think of if you added some great pictures or videos to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this site could definitely be one of the very best in its niche. Superb blog!

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Appreciate it!
