Happy Halloween!

by Mary Anne on October 31, 2008

Last night marked the official start to the Halloween weekend in the Stiletto house and that can only mean one thing…time to carve the pumpkins! The kids carefully selected the designs they wanted and then we went to work. And by we, I mean me and The Man because beyond picking the designs the kids didn’t really want much to do with it unless it involved very sharp tools which we generally find to be a bad idea. We were able to momentarily enlist the talents of Miss G who really enjoyed digging the guts out…

…and there are no pictures of Mr. C because he was more interested in watching Total Drama Island and popping in and out ocassionally to supervise myself and The Man.

Almost two hours later with sore arms and covered in pumpkin guts “the kids” had finished their pumpkins.

Not bad, huh? And it was all worth it too, because now I am a hanging with the cool kids over at Sprite’s Keeper in her weekly Spin Cycle. Happy Halloween you guys…hope it is a safe and happy one with lots of treats and not too many tricks!

Love these pumpkins! They are so intricate! I get to the second eye, my hands start to hurt, and I’m “DONE!”
You’re linked! Happy Halloween!

Very nice. Every year, we all start carving pumpkins together. By the end of the carving session, I am up to my elbows in pumpkin guts and all 3 of my other family members have gone to watch funniest home videos or something. I need the rat pumpkin. check out my blog for the full story. http://gooseyspot.blogspot.com/

WOW! you guys (and I mean you and The Man) do a great job. I passed the pumpkin carving torch to my youngest son. Who, BTW spent the last 4 day whining, carping & complaining that his pumpkin carving tools were packed in the attic. I held fast. He’s 22 years olds he can get his own tools down.

Those are awesome! I carved pumpkins for the first time last year. Tool Man was out of town and the kids were all up for helping. For 10 minutes. So it took me two hours to do two measley pumpkins, but I’ll tell you what, those pumpkins rocked!

Tool Man had the honors this year. He carved 3. It took nearly 3 hours. Yeah, the kids SO love carving pumpkins!

Happy Halloween!!

Totally AWESOME!

And way, way more creative then what we created last night. I’ll just refer to our as a “classic.” I had a cool face all planned out and then the Punk Ass decided to change it and draw a new face on the pumpkin…with permanent marker. Guess we are having some triangles!

Happy Halloween!

Love the spider!

Awesome pumpkins! We did ours last night too. And, it was my mom and I. My husband seems to develop pumpkin allergies every Halloween. Hmmm….

Those are excellent Jack-o-lanterns. I can not cut straight enough to make it look as awesome as yours. I’m good with triangle eyes.

wow, my arm was super sore from just carving a stupid pumpkin face.

Great job. My son wandered off roughly 33 seconds after we started. That may be for the best since those teeny saws are ungodly sharp.

Wow Cool Jack-o-lanterns. There was drama at our house too, I had to operate on one of them, it now has a tooth pick helping it stay together. LOL.

Bloody show off.
Why can’t you just do rubbish slanty eyes and a jagged mouth like the rest of us? Well like me anyway. x

Good job!

Everybody was all over the carving idea until I cut into the first one, then they all disappeared.

wow, y’all are talented carvers.

Can you believe H.E.B. was out of pumpkins yesterday? So I had to bribe my kid with pre-candy candy to assuage her sad little soul.

I think you inadvertently called me a cool kid and I liked it. Those pumpkins are rockin, I’m always amazed at what people pull off with those crappy cutting utensils. We didn’t even carve one this year, I’m hanging my head in shame…

You continue to make me look really really really really bad. Those are totally impressive!
